Day #5: Top 5 tech trends

Updated: May 8, 2019

On day #5, Nemo Verbist, Group Executive Customer and Digital Workplace, challenged our four interns to summarize the top technology trends in 2019.

This morning we met Nemo Verbist who challenged us to find what were the top 5 tech trends and search information about these tech trends. We also had to make a presentation about these topics and think about how we find information about trends in our daily life. It was really interesting to discover new technologies that we didn’t expect. Some concepts were really hard to understand, but it was a great experience to debate together about these trends. We already knew some of the tech trends but today we did an in-depth research about how it really works. We made a videoconference with Nemo again, he was very kind with us. Marta Duponselle and Nemo explained us how the concept of blockchain works. We spent a great day doing this challenge !

The number one of the top tech trends is Mobile Internet, we expect 5G to become the worldwide dominating mobile communications standard of the next decade. The top 4 tech trends are already implemented in our daily basis and we hope that much more are coming in the future to make our life better.

The challenge #5 taught me so many things. I really appreciated to learn about the trends in our days. I already knew some of them, such as artificial intelligence, internet of things (IoT) and 5G that is going to be released soon, but I never thought about researching more information about what it is exactly. I don't know much about this topic, so this challenge was really enlightening. I chose to do some research on artificial intelligence because I didn't really understand what it was exactly until now. I wanted to know what it meant, and I am stunned to know that it is not that difficult. I am glad and also, as I was fascinated by the subject, I felt more confident during the presentation. Technology is becoming more and more interesting by time. It was also interesting to get Nemo Verbist’s point of view about trends.

For the day #5 we met Nemo Verbist who gave us our daily challenge. We had to research the top 5 of the tech trends. It is an interesting subject as we learned a lot about new technologies and the ones that will appear in the future such as the 5G. As I have worked on the advanced robotics, I also learned a lot about some uncovered benefits and I am now aware of the quantum computing that is an interesting concept that could help us a lot. It could help us to save time and above all it will use an amazing technology by operating with nanoscale components at temperatures colder than intergalactic space. I am exciting to discover the next challenge !
